Among these, road marking systems play a significant role, comprising elements like paints, machinery, resins, and glass beads. Specific examples mentioned include sandblasting tanks and high-pressure water jet machines for surface cleaning and preparation, as well as grinding and milling machines for ground preparation.
In addition, there are various types of road marking machines designed for different application needs, including electric, hydraulic, and custom-built models. Glass Bead Technologies
for Optimal Road Visibility
Within these industrial applications, glass bead solutions used in road marking systems hold special importance due to their role in enhancing visibility. There are two main types of these beads: drop-on and premix. Drop-on beads are applied immediately after the paint, while premix beads are blended into the paint and continue to provide retroreflectivity as the paint wears down.
These beads reflect vehicle headlights, significantly improving the visibility of road markings, especially at night and in low-light conditions. For optimal reflection performance, it is recommended that 50% to 70% of the glass beads be embedded in the paint. Sources also note that uncoated or silicone-coated beads are not ideal for long-term reflectivity. As a result, these glass beads are fundamental components in improving road safety by making markings more visible to drivers.
